About the Fish We Chase / Other Freshwater Species

Although trout and bass represent the vast majority of freshwater species targeted by fly fishers, it is difficult to dismiss the many other species that are available to fly fishers. From muskies to blue gill, the number of other species is numerous. I have noticed in recent years the increasing popularity of two species in particular...muskies and carp. Although I have never had an opportunity to target a muskie, I have, on several occasions chased the wiley carp. I can say that once you figure out how to get them to eat a fly, it is a hoot!. So wherever you live in the US, there are certainly numerous species available to you. All you need is a fly rod, a few flies that imitate whatever food source(s) are present and a little time to figure out the details...have fun!
