What's New...
Do you have plans...or just dreams of fishing the Yellowstone area? I just completed, at least for now, a whole section on Fly Fishing the Yellowstone area. There is information on over a dozen rivers within a 50 mile radius of West Yellowstone, Montana. There are articles and videos for the Madison River, Henry's Fork, Yellowstone, Gallatin, Gibbon, Lamar, Slough Creek and more. Also, Hebgen and Quake Lakes. I have spent over 40 years and made almost 100 trips to fish this area.

What do you know about the fish you chase? - Take a look at the newly completed Trout, Salmon and Char section. Information includes all 14 subspecies of rainbow trout and 15 subspecies of cutthroat trout that can be found in North America. Also included is detailed information on the various salmon and char subspecies. If you are interested in the history, natural range and where these fish can be found, you need to give this section a good look. There is also information on other fresh and saltwater species. Pictured to the right is the Lahontan cutthroat trout. In recent years conservation efforts have been successful and fly fishers are now catching these fish over 20 lbs.

Are you or someone you know a fly fishing "newbie"? If so, I have just written a new article for beginners and those just interested in knowing more about fly fishing and how it differs from other fishing methods. I have covered fly casting pretty extensively as I know from experience that it is the casting that creates the most frustration for those new to fly fishing. There is also an extensive discussion about choosing the right rod, reel and fly line to get started. To see this article, click here...
If/when you see this on the OnlyOnFlies website, what does it mean? I guess no web site is ever really finished...at least it should never be considered "done"...that certainly is the case with OnlyOnFlies. There is always something new in the fly fishing world and there is always something new to learn. Site visitors should expect to see new and different content on every visit...so very little is static.

If you see this text on the site, it means that I am presently working on that section. It does not mean that there is nothing there...if there was nothing of value, I would simply "hide" that page.

When you see text in RED, it denotes topics and articles that are a part of future plans and should be available in the near future.
