David  Lambroughton - Writer, Photographer, and Publisher of the Fly Fishing Dreams Calendar and splitting my year between B.C. and N.Z. and lots of stops in between...

I met David back in the 1978-1979 when he was guiding for a fly shop in Burney, California owned by Bob Quigley and was spending a lot of time working on Fall River. He was just out of college and it was easy to see that fly fishing was a part of him...like your nose, it was obvious. I lost touch when he moved on to bigger things. In the late 80's, when on a steelhead trip on the Umpqua River in Oregon, I wandered into the Steamboat Inn...a beautiful little place perched on the bluff right above the river (probably for a beer) and there in the main lodge room was a wooden crate full of matted photos. They caught my eye and, upon looking more closely, there was David's name on every one of them. Since then, I ran into him on the Henry's Fork. I had seen a lot of his work in Fly Fisherman Magazine and in a few other publication and it was clear that his reputation as one of the foremost fly fishing photographers was a matter of record. Now, after 20+ years of no contact, I reached out to him by email while I was in the early stages of developing this website. I do not know if he remembered me or not but we ended up talking on the phone and he very generously offered to send me some of his photos so I could use them on the website. In the next couple of hours, I had over 100 mbytes of fantastic photos that you will see throughout this site. His annual Fly Fishing Dreams calendar is always a delight to get and keep. David has also become a real expert on fly fishing in New Zealand and Steelheading in the Northwest and British Columbia where he now lives for most of the year.
